So, what’s in your freezer right now?
If you have no idea or you couldn’t possibly tell me when you bought that gallon of ice cream, it may be time to create a system for keeping your freezer organized, inventoried and avoiding freezer burn.
You pay very good money for food so why let it get freezer burned?
I use a dry erase board on the front of my freezer to mark everything that goes in and out of the freezer. That way I know exactly how much chicken I have or if we’re opening the last of the ice cream.
Using sturdy ziplock bags and freezer containers with labels is also key to staying organized.
You don’t have to send everything through the computer printer; just write down what the product is and the date purchased and throw that label on the bag or container. Easy peasey.
After everything is labeled, try to organize like groups together in the freezer. If you hit a great sale and have overflowing amounts of anything, put the most recently purchased items near the back of the freezer.
Organizing your freezer doesn’t have to be a day-long chore. In the end, meal planning will be much easier and your freezer will run more efficiently due to smart organizing.
