After living on my own and having to cook for myself for over 20 years, you’d think I’d have a sure-fire way to organize all my recipes but I’m still trying to find my favorite way.
I guess I’m a little old fashioned because I don’t have an ipad that I can use to call up any of the millions of recipes online that I’d like to try. My bigger issue isn’t in finding recipes; it’s keeping track of the recipes that my picky family actually LIKES!
After I pull recipes from magazines or print them from online, I like to store them in binders because they’re easy to keep stored in my kitchen. At a moment’s notice I have the tried and true recipes that my family likes (this is a huge time saver when meal planning, too!)
These binders that are specifically for recipes come in pretty colors and have tabs specific to cooking categories.
I also have a couple of these recipe boxes but truth be told, they are a ragged mess because I normally print out my recipes on full size paper and it doesn’t fold down quite small enough to see the dividers. I guess I should just print them out smaller and tape them to index cards to solve that problem.
And there’s even cookbook software you can download to your computer. This would be especially helpful if you have dozens of handwritten family recipes that you want to preserve forever. This software allows you to print out a hard copy of your book!
