When was the last time you looked under your bathroom sink? Better yet, when was the last time you took an inventory and tossed stuff out?
Our bathroom vanities tend to be a ‘throw all’ place for many, with the idea that we can just throw stuff under there and then close the door so as not to be seen again. But not only does this clutter cause perfectly good products to go bad but it hinders our time every morning as we get ready for the day.
After many months (or maybe after a full year) I discovered a few containers of deodorant under my vanity. I shouldn’t have been surprised to find they were dried out and it actually hurt to rub it on my skin but that’s what happens with clutter: good things get ruined.
So, try these tips to declutter and keep your bathroom organized:
- Throw stuff out. This is especially true of cosmetics which can lead to eye infections or skin irritations but how many bottles of body lotion do you really need? If you’re not going to use those loofah sponges, then toss them. Or if products are still fresh and in good condition, consider donating them to a local shelter.
- Sort like items together. Are you finding hairspray under your sink and hairbrushes in a drawer? Are your lipsticks in a different location than your eye makeup? Find small containers or boxes and keep like things together. This will save immense amounts of time in the morning.
Once you’re organized try to stay organized or at least do a little organizing every week so it doesn’t get so over cluttered again. Now that you’ve gotten rid of the clutter, you’ll also find it takes less time to clean the bathroom because everything is in its place.
